Global Styles
Type: Reference | Audience: Interface builder user
Global Styles are view-wide defaults for font size, font color, row spacing, and column spacing. They save you from setting the same values on every block.
Open them from View settings > Global Styles. The button on the View settings tab shows a status badge -- "Off", "On (no values set)", or "On (X/4 set)" depending on how many of the four fields are filled in.

Settings
The dialog has a master switch at the top:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Enable Global Styles | Master toggle. When off, none of the global values are applied -- every block falls back to its own settings. |
Below the switch, four fields set the view-wide defaults. Leave any of them empty (placeholder: Not set) to skip that default.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Font Size (px) | Default font size in pixels for every block in the view. |
| Font Color | Default font color (as a hex code or via the colour picker) for every block in the view. |
| Row Gap (px) | Vertical space in pixels between rows. |
| Column Gap (px) | Horizontal space in pixels between columns inside a row. |
Overriding Global Styles Per Block
When Global Styles are on and a value is set, individual blocks and rows can opt out:
- Inside a block's Style sub-tab, a Use custom style switch appears next to Font Size (px) when a global Font Size is active. Toggle it on to keep the block's own font size; the local input becomes editable. The same switch appears next to Font Color when a global Font Color is active.
- Inside a row's Row Settings, Exclude from global row gap appears when Row Gap is set globally; Exclude from global column gap appears when Column Gap is set globally. Each one detaches that specific row from the matching global value.
These switches only show up when the matching global value is actually set, so you do not see clutter when you are not using global styles.
How the Defaults Apply
When Enable Global Styles is on and a global value is set:
- Font Size cascades to every block unless the block has Use custom style on next to its Font Size input.
- Font Color cascades to every block unless the block has Use custom style on next to its Font Color input.
- Row Gap is applied between every pair of rows unless a row has Exclude from global row gap on.
- Column Gap is applied between columns in every row unless the row has Exclude from global column gap on.
Reusing Styles Across Views
Two action buttons live at the bottom of the dialog when your interface has more than one view:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Apply to all interfaces | Copies the current global styles to every other view in this interface, overwriting their existing global styles. Disabled until Enable Global Styles is on. |
| Load from main interface | Replaces the current view's global styles with the main view's. Only shown when you are not on the main view. |
Use these to keep typography and spacing consistent when an interface has many views.
